Lilker designs MEP systems for Long Island's newest retail destination

Lilker Associates is providing full MEP services for Equity One Inc.'s new mega-retail center, The Gallery at Westbury, in Nassau County, Long Island. The 330,000-sq.-ft. development is scheduled to open in the fall of 2012 with a roster of high profile retailers including Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off Fifth, Bloomingdale's, Trader Joe's, and The Container Store.

The MEP scope comprises core and shell design for the new multiple-tenant retail project, consisting of an 82,000-sq.-ft., single-story building, a 226,000 sq. ft., two-story building, an underground parking structure, on grade parking and four freestanding pads for retail, bank and restaurant tenants. Seeking LEED-Silver rating, design and construction features will include brownfield redevelopment, storm water design, energy optimization, water use reduction and enhanced commissioning.
